Pro Client Guide
Jason Herring
Jason Herring, Pro Client Guide โ Retirement Income Distribution Strategist, has 14 years in the life and financial services industry.
Background and Expertise
Jason started his career in the medical profession, spending time with doctors and their staffs as a pharmaceutical sales rep.
After about 10 years, changes in the industry and downsizing prompted him to reevaluate his options. He left the profession, despite having enjoyed the medical field.
A friend approached Jason and suggested he would do well as a wholesaler in life insurance. He immediately liked the idea of protecting families, based upon some early experiences prior to that time.
The father of Jason’s childhood friend had passed away after sitting in his armchair one night and just never woke up. Jason had never forgotten that his friend’s dad had only $50,000 in life insurance from a work policy that just covered his annual salary.
Shortly after beginning his insurance career at Hartford as a wholesaler, Jason heard about a similar situation involving a guy in his mid 30’s who’d passed suddenly, again only having coverage for 1.5x his salary.
These experiences and others solidified Jason’s resolve to help families get the protections they need. In the years that followed, Jason became a successful wholesaler, working with hundreds of clients and their advisors to develop retirement income distribution strategies of all kinds.
In 2012, Jason sat in a hotel room in Knoxville when he received an urgent call that Hartford was selling its life insurance division, prompting him to transition again.
Prudential eventually bought out Hartford and Jason began a new course educating Prudential advisors and their clients on comprehensive retirement income distribution strategies.
Jason sat in over 400 meetings during those years with advisors and clients and cultivated a depth of knowledge that gave him confidence in developing virtually any strategy, from very simple to advanced LIRP distribution approaches.
Eventually, Jason wanted to “get closer to the sale” in his words and even though his territory and influence with Prudential was expanding, he was losing work life balance due to too much travel and lost family time.
So he decided to “take a chance on himself” and began working directly with consumers. Not long after that, Jason started with I&E in 2017 and has been an integral part of shaping our values, knowledge base and expertise.

Unique Perspective
Jason believes in helping people “flight to safety” meaning that people often need to break away from certain beliefs to put in place the protection they need.

Jason prioritizes family time and makes it a point to schedule regular vacations with his family. He has been married for 25 years, has 3 daughters that keep him busy and they all live in Nashville with their dog, Sadie.
